AI made video easier to create. Relevance is the next hard problem.

The 2026 marketing research points to a gap between producing more content and giving each customer a reason to care. Here is what to change in your video strategy.

A practical perspective from the Shuffll Engage team.

A larger content supply does not create a better customer moment

A beautiful AI-generated shot solves a real production problem. It can give a small team an ambitious visual, help explore a new direction or reduce the effort required to get a first version on screen. But production capacity and customer relevance are different constraints. A team can produce more video and still put the same message in front of people with very different needs.

Our view is that the next useful advantage comes from connecting creative production to customer context. The important question becomes: which story belongs in this moment, for this audience, and what should happen after it? That changes the unit of work from an isolated clip to a reusable customer experience. It also changes what a buyer should ask a video platform to demonstrate.

What the research says—and what it does not prove

Salesforce’s Tenth Edition State of Marketing identifies a gap between expectations for personalized engagement and the data foundations needed to support it. Braze’s 2026 Customer Engagement Review similarly examines the distance between brand confidence and consumer experience. These are vendor-sponsored market studies, with their own populations and methods. They provide useful context, not a benchmark for Shuffll or proof that video is always the right channel.

Adobe’s 2026 consumer research adds a particularly useful warning: relevance alone does not excuse excessive promotion or a message that misses the customer’s journey stage. Our editorial inference is straightforward. As creation becomes easier, teams should become more selective about what they make and when they use it. Greater output is valuable when it serves a sharper customer decision.

  • Salesforce reports that 84% of surveyed marketers say they run generic campaigns. This is a self-reported market signal, not a video-platform benchmark.
  • Adobe reports that 45% of surveyed customers say excessive promotions could make them stop interacting with a brand, even when the content is relevant. This describes stated intent, not an observed video conversion rate.

Rewrite the brief around a decision

Replace “we need a personalized video” with a concrete customer question. A confirmed guest might need to understand arrival options. A shopper exploring a category might need help choosing between two uses. A new account holder might need a clear explanation of the next setup step. Each question implies a different opening, detail and next action.

Then describe the information you actually have. A confirmed booking is a stronger basis for a pre-arrival story than an inferred interest with no clear source. The creative team should know which signals are dependable, which expire and what happens when they are missing. A strong brief connects a usable signal to a useful difference in the story.

Build a small creative system before a large content library

Start with a shared brand foundation and a few meaningful alternatives. Change the prepared scene, voice-over, product offering or explanation where the audience need justifies it. Keep everything else consistent enough to review. A small system with clear selection rules is easier to operate than a large library whose versions nobody can confidently map to the customer.

Engage’s workspace story fits this approach: AI-assisted creation, prepared creative variants and audience rules considered together. The exact production interface still matters. Workspace personalization is separate from the published fixed-video API and MCP V1 contract; adding recipient records through V1 does not personalize the rendered media. Choose the supported path before promising an automated customer experience.

A practical first-month agenda

Choose one existing journey with a clear purpose and owner. Document the current message, the customer’s likely question and the outcome you can observe. Prepare a matched version, a second audience version and a complete default. Review the spoken line, visual, offering and next-step destination together, then verify the actual output and handoff.

Keep a record of production effort and operational failures alongside engagement. More views do not by themselves establish business value. A useful evaluation asks whether the experience helped the intended customer action at a reasonable cost and with an understandable workflow. That gives the team a reason to expand—or a precise explanation of what needs to improve.

  • Start with one customer question and one journey owner.
  • Map each creative difference to a usable audience signal.
  • Review defaults as carefully as matched versions.
  • Measure a defined outcome against a comparable baseline.

A few useful answers.

Does this research prove personalized video increases conversion?

No. These studies describe marketing and consumer patterns. Video-specific lift must be tested in your own journey with an appropriate comparison and a defined outcome.

Where does Engage fit in this market shift?

Engage connects AI-assisted creation, prepared audience variants and supported integration workflows. Evaluate the configured workspace and the exact release contract for the job you need.
